It's Been a While...

We realized it's been almost 6 weeks since we last posted anything on our blog. Though nothing has happened, a lot has happened. We had a wonderful but busy holidays it was nice that Jon had some time off though it was strange no having a job to go back to for me.

By the time January came around I was so excited to go take my course. Now that I have three weeks of hands-on training from the Canadian Institute of Floral Design (www.proflorists.net), I feel so well equipped to continue my business! Many of the designs and training I had experience in, but it was great to learn lots of tricks and tips that I would have never known. I made some great connections and learned lots about the industry and the business aspect of being a florist. The course was a fantastic investment. Check out my website to see some updated Portfolio pictures. Here are some of my favorites:

If you have any events or weddings coming up - please let me know, I'd love to talk flowers with you:

In the adoption world, something is coming up called "Baby Season" which people laugh at when I say it, but it is true. For many young women who are making adoption plans for their children find themselves due in March and April as conception commonly takes place over the summer holiday. There is a higher percentage of children available for adoption in the spring because of this, but because we are open to adopting a child that is up to 2 years old, this may not apply to us. It still in the back of our minds knowing that a phone call could come every day. Thank God for Call Display - CAS comes up as PRIVATE, but at least we know that!

Vacation... Oh how we love our vacations. They really do keep us sane. We happily go without eating out very often, or buying ourselves clothes or spending much on entertainment just so we can save a little money and go on vacation. Last year in March we went to Costa Rica and we had the best time ever! Jon and I were talking about how he had never seen many parts of Canada, he has only ever been in Ontario, and the furthest he has gone is Bowmanville, Muskoka & London. So not very far at all. We've been so busy gallivanting off to other countries that Jon hasn't seen much of Canada. We were thinking that in the spring that we would go to Montreal and Ottawa so Jon could see some more Canada. It sounded wonderful.... And then when we talked about it more and we realized.... None of those places have beaches. No hot sun and beaches. And a vacation is not a vacation with out a beach for me!

Meghan and Alex then said that they were thinking about going away the first week of March. We said forget Ottawa and Montreal in the spring or summer - LETS GO NOW! So this week we booked a very inexpensive last minute vacation to Cuba with Meghan & Alex. The 4 of us have never vacationed together, so it should be fun! We can wait. I've already started packing! We are going for one week, leaving on February 28th. Though we thought Costa Rica was going to be our last vacation without children, we realized it's been another year and we don't have kids quite yet, so we might as well squeeze another vacation in there. We plan to do nothing except for swim, eat and sleep!
