PRIDE TRAINING
So we have now completed our PRIDE training... We are ready to be adoptive parents! Well, at least according to the government and the adoption world...
ADOPTION PROFILE
We have also completed our Adoption Profile. That is what the birth mothers who are looking for a family to parent their child look at to consider a couple. We have info about us, our relationship, our family, hobbies and a whole lot of pictures!!! If we have a birth mother choose us, we will be getting a brand new baby - but that way we will not be able to choose the sex of the child... Which is great... Cause we would love to have a little baby! But otherwise we have specified a boy for an older child (toddler)!
HOME STUDY
We have one more home study session, which is this Friday. We will be covering our "acceptance list" which is when we have to decided what medical & issues we are willing to accept in a child. Keep us in your prayers over the next couple of dates as we do some research and make some decisions for Friday!
THE WAITING GAME
After Friday, our practitioner will be writing a report on our lives. She sums up who we are and what kind of family we are that will give a birth mother and CAS a good picture of who we are and the kind of life we will provide for our future child. We will then have that report, along with our Adoption Profile, sent to a number of CAS agencies across Ontario. Most likely Hamilton-Wentworth, Peel, York, Toronto & Kitchener-Waterloo. We will then be in the pool of families waiting for a match. That match will be either a birth mother who has an adoption plan for her child choosing us to parent her child or that will be CAS matching us with a child who is crown ward and in foster care who is legally ready to be adopted!
TIME LINE
There is no time line. There is no average. Every family is different, every child is different, every agency is different and there is no two adoption stories that are the same. They may have a child in mind already, and it may be over a year of waiting... We don't know!
We'll keep everyone updated as we know more!
