Well. It is September in 2 days. I can't believe it! We realize our adoption paperwork has been submitted for just under two months - but this feels like it has been a long journey already!
Our adoption practitioner, Sharon, called us yesterday to confirm which agencies had received our home study and profile and to think about a few more places to send it to, just in case :D
We also discussed the ARE - Adoption Resource Exchange. It is a convention that includes lots of resources. Over 20 CAS agencies from Ontario are there. They also have profiles on children who are waiting to find their forever families. I know it seems crazy that these kids have all their information out there just waiting to be adopted.... But so many children get placed because of these AREs. CAS agencies don't usually have the time to search through the system for potential parents - so this is a weekend where everybody shows up and we give out our profile to be considered for specific children we see there. Who knows - our child may end up coming from Sudbury, and the CAS workers would have never met us or seen our profile otherwise!
It has taken us a long time to get used to the idea of this - it seems so impersonal. But we are going to participate in the ARE as it is one more thing we can do to move the process along. The ARE is on October 24 & 25. We can't go to the Saturday as we have a wedding that day, but we will be participating in the 25th!
Those are all our updates for now!
