EVERYTHING IS DONE! YAY!
Our practitioner has also decided to send our profile to Brant, Durham & Halton just in case. So hopefully a child will find us soon! We have been told that a match during the summer is unlikely because of people going on vacations, etc. But that everything will be submitted to all agencies. We are to contact our caseworker on Friday for next steps! Looking at timing with work, September would be ideal timing... Then my summer program is finished and the new year is kicking off with sufficient time to hire someone to take my place. Getting to November and December isn't as good for Jon to take time off - but anytime after the summer is fantastic.
This will give us more time to save up for necessities like a Stroller - which I didn't realize how expensive they were - and a car seat, etc. We want good quality items for our children and we are willing on spending extra money on something that is going to last us and meets all safety requirements. We have already done some research and even started a registry in anticipation for our little one. We've found a great store in Hamilton called Springy's and they know everything about baby "transportation" plus they are just a great shop! Anyways, that's that!
Imagine Adoption is bankrupt. We are so disappointed for all of our friends who are currently or were planning on working with the agency and the loss they are feeling. Being anywhere in the process and then having your agency pretty much disappear (with all your money) would be awful. We are so greatful that God protected us from continuing with the organization and pursuing local adoption instead. An adoption agency has NEVER gone bankrupt, so people have no idea what is going to happen with their families, money, the adoptive children... There are so many questions! I am also sorry for all those people who feel so passionately about Latin America as they were the only organization that was working there - in Ecuador.
Thanks for keeping up to date with our blog!

I'm with you 100% for a carseat - get a good, safe carseat either new or from someone you know. You can get it checked out a carseat clinic in Hamilton. We borrowed one that we knew had only been used by our relatives and hadn't been in an accident. With the stroller though, just out of personal experience, we ended up borrowing several different ones and the one we ended up buying is just a $5 garage sale find. The other ones we borrowed were so big, bulky and cumbersome. And we don’t use a stroller very often at all. We wore Eden in wraps and slings until at least 6 months and then a simple umbrella stroller with a basket was the best.
